CLAE’s Story

CLAE’s Story

Welcome to colourful chaos!

My name is Chlo and I am the owner and director of CLAE The Artisan Studio.

You could say I’ve always been the ‘arty’ kind. As a kid I was always attracted to painting and colouring books. I grew up in Manchester, UK so indoor activities were crucial to keep us entertained.

In high school my favourite subjects were Art and Graphic Design, I was always keen for extra curricular activities and funnily enough they were my highest grades when graduating. After high school I studied Fine Art and Interior Design in collage for 2 years, from there I spent 3 years in university where I graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts Honours Degree in Textile and Surface Design. I was offered a full time position as a graduate designer in a printing company in the UK but this is where the plot twists.

In 2015 I decided to move to Western Australia. I left behind my family, friends, dream job opportunities and any art connections to travel across the world and start again (I know crazy right)

My plan was to settle in my new life and continue my Art journey but before I knew it 2 years passed and I hadn’t picked up a pencil let alone done anything creative.

In November 2018 I decided it was time to get the creative flow back, I went out and bought drawing pads, pencils, paints, brushes and set up a little art corner in our rental home. To hold me accountable I started an instagram page called ‘clae creative’ where I set myself a goal to post new art works 2-3 times a week so that I was making time for myself and doing what I love.

Fast forward to 2023 I am now a full time homewares and decor designer, creating artisanal art pieces using colour psychology and teaching styling using the art of Feng Shui.

It has been the wildest ride and I will forever be grateful for the people I have met, the opportunities I’ve had and the lessons I’ve learnt.

And to you, I’m glad you are here! Thank you for reading my story and I’m so excited to share this next chapter of my journey with you.
